Reviews from people I've worked with

"He is also a top guy to work with. Highly recommend"

Luke was a great coach. He helped me get started on my running journey, providing structured advice and plans for the week.

I could see improvement every week and after only a few months he got me to regularly get a park run pb and complete my first ever half marathon.

He is also a top guy to work with. Highly recommend

Tim K.

"I went from nothing to running a 23 minute 5k with Luke's help"

This guys love for running is catching. I went from nothing to running a 23 minute 5k with Luke's help.

His guidance and support opened my eyes to running two marathons, multiple halves, 10ks and continuously chipping at my 5k pb time.

He's incredibly professional, friendly and genuine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from new runners

Can I try just one fortnight before committing to more?

Yes. The fortnightly structure is intentional - your first two weeks is a natural starting point with no pressure to continue. If it's not right for you, that's fine.

I've tried running before and hated it - is this different?

Probably, yes. Most people who've had a bad experience were doing too much too soon and probably too fast without the right foundation. Everything we work together to do is to ensure that running is actually fun and not a slog. That's the key to consistency.

Is coaching in-person only?

Yes. I don't do online coaching. Face-to-face makes a real difference - I can see how you actually move and respond in the moment. I'm based in West End, Brisbane.

What do I get for $150 a fortnight?

Everything - in-person sessions, a bespoke two-week training plan, ongoing messaging during daylight hours, form analysis, nutrition guidance, mindset support, strength guidance, and free access to all group sessions. There's no higher tier and nothing held back.

What happens in the first session?

We meet in person and I get a clear picture of where you're starting from - how you move, what's getting in your way, and what you actually want from running. There's no fitness test to pass. From there I build your first two-week plan around what I find out.

Why people come here

The reasons people reach out to me

These are the real reasons people reach out - not "I want a training plan", but the honest stuff underneath it.

01

"I've tried before and it felt awful, so I quit."

You're not broken. You were probably doing too much, too soon, without the right foundation. That's fixable.

02

"I want to start but I don't know where to begin."

The overwhelm of where to start stops more people than lack of motivation ever does. Let's clear that up.

03

"I'm too slow, too unfit, too embarrassed."

Everyone starts somewhere. There's no bar to clear before you're allowed to call yourself a runner. I'll meet you exactly where you are.

04

"I want to feel better - in my body and my head."

Running is the vehicle. What you're really after is energy, confidence, and feeling good long-term. That's what we work towards.

Let's get the office moving.

Do I have to be a runner or a certain speed?

Absolutely not. All runs are time based not distance based so everyone will start and finish at the same time. The goal is to be social and get moving, not race.

Where

We will meet in the central lobby of 339 Coronation Drive. Please try to arrive at least 5 minutes beforehand.

Most coaching sells you a programme. A PDF, a schedule, a set of workouts. And then you're on your own. That's not coaching, that's a product. What I do is actually work with you. Understand how your body moves, what's getting in your way, and help you build a relationship with running that lasts. Not just for a race. For life.

What's included

Coaching with no compromises

Everything below is part of working with me - not an add-on, not a higher tier. This is what coaching actually means.

Fortnightly planning sessions

In-person where possible. We review how things are going and set out the next two weeks - together, not handed down to you.

Ongoing plan tweaks

Your training adapts as you do. If something isn't working, we change it - no waiting until the next session.

Ongoing messaging & check-ins

You're not on your own between sessions. Questions, doubts, bad runs - I'm available.

Video form analysis

We look at how you actually move, not just how far or fast. Good technique makes running easier and keeps you injury-free.

Nutrition guidance

Not a strict diet plan - practical advice on fuelling your body so running feels good, not depleting.

Mindset & confidence support

The mental side of starting out is real. We talk about it honestly and work through it as part of the process.

Strength & movement guidance

Running gets easier when the rest of your body supports it. Simple, practical work that complements your runs.

In-person sessions (preferred)

Face-to-face makes a difference. I can see what's happening, respond in the moment, and actually get to know how you run.

This isn't a PDF to download and follow on your own.
It's someone in your corner, for the whole journey.

My coaching philosophy

Coaching for humans with jobs and problems

01.

We start where you actually are

Not where you think you should be. No assumptions, no pressure. Just an honest look at where you're starting from.

02.

Everything is built around you

Your schedule, your body, your goals. You won't be pushed further or faster than makes sense - but you will be challenged, gently and at the right time.

03.

The goal is something you enjoy

Not just a finish line. We're building a relationship with movement that feels good and lasts - for your health, your confidence, and your life.

About Luke - that's me

A decade of helping beginners enjoy running

I'm Luke a professional running UK Athletics qualified running coach with 10 years experience helping real humans find their way into running for the first time.

I work with beginners because that's where the real work happens and that’s where I find the most joy. Getting started is the hardest part. Once you're moving, the rest follows.

My approach is built on two thing: honesty and humanity. About what running actually feels like at the start, about what progress really looks like, and about what you need, not what the running industry or social media tries to sell you.

I'm based in West End, Brisbane, and work with clients one on a regular in-person contact basis. I don’t do online only coaching.
